Use Uvalde Honey in place of sugar to keep cookies and cakes moist and fresh. Any recipe which calls for sugar (either granulated or brown sugar) can be converted to Uvalde Honey recipe. Replace sugar with ½ as much Uvalde Honey. When Uvalde Honey is substituted in baked goods, add ½ teaspoon baking soda for every cup of Uvalde Honey used and bake at a lower temperature.
- One tablespoon Uvalde Honey = 5 tablespoons sugar
One half cup Uvalde Honey = 1 cup sugar
If Uvalde Honey granulates, place its container in hot water until the honey re-liquefies. It can also be liquefied by placing in microwave on low level. To can fruit with Uvalde Honey, stack fruit in jars. Pour 2 tablespoons of Uvalde Honey over fruit. Fill jar with hot water. Put on lid and rim, tightening. Rotate jar 3 or 4 times to mix honey with water and process by either hot water or pressure canner method. Fruit will retain natural color when processed with Uvalde Honey instead of browning as with sugar. Uvalde Honey used in these two methods is less expensive than cooking with sugar.
